CEO Ken Zwerdling receives patriot award

With the majority of the world news being negative, it is hard to really see the goodness in the world.  The gridlock in Washington turns off most Americans to politics as the discussion is more about bashing the other party.  The reason we enjoy our freedom today is because of the sacrifices of our military men and women as well as the sacrifices of their families.  The ridiculous handling of benefits to veterans having to wait months to receive what they should get the moment they leave the service. Over the past 20 years, Ken Zwerdling – CEO of Foreign Staffing has always tried to help veterans in any way possible.  He contributed by hiring veterans for full time positions, internships and giving them paid time off for their reserve commitment.  More employers should follow his lead.  Ken’s commitment to helping was noticed by a recent employee and nominated him for an award.

Ken Zwerdling, CEO of Foreign Staffing, Inc., received the Patriot Award for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve from the United States Department of Defense. Over the years Ken and his company, Foreign Staffing, Inc., have shown extreme support of his employees’ military commitments. Ken has a background of family members and employees who served with our nation’s Military Service including his father who served in the Korean War and two employees who served in the United States Army, including one that served in Iraq. In addition, Ken employed a United States Navy Chief, a member of the United States Coast Guard and currently has an Human Resources Intern that served in the United States Navy aboard the Nuclear Submarine, the USS Montpelier.

Ken has shown dedicated support for his employees’ time away from work always supporting their military commitments with paid time off.  Ken shows his commitment as a Patriot in recognizing those who have given great sacrifice while away from family and friends.  Ken also supports “Families United Towards Universal Respect” (FUTURE) which includes "Hugs for Healing" flights for the Gold Star Moms and Wives. This organization promotes peace and understanding through those who have lost their children and spouses in war with visits to women in Iraq who have also lost children. FUTURE honors these women with memorial services, leadership seminars and service projects for reconciliation and nation building in order to hug, heal, and communicate. According to the military employee who nominated him, “Ken is very deserving of this award and all employers and supervisors should use Ken’s example in supporting fellow military service members”. Ken is honored with this recognition and appreciates all those connected with the military for their own commitment to ensuring that our country is the best it can be.
